Kuwait City: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, engaged in discussions with top Kuwaiti officials, including Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, at Bayan Palace. The meeting, attended by Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi and Charg© d’Affaires Ahmad Arafa, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and security cooperation.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Sheikh Al-Sabah extended congratulations to President Aoun on his election, emphasizing Lebanon’s significance to Kuwait. He acknowledged the Lebanese community’s contributions in Kuwait and highlighted the strong security cooperation between the nations, particularly in tackling drug trafficking, which has successfully prevented multiple smuggling attempts.
Sheikh Al-Sabah assured Kuwait’s ongoing support for Lebanon and condemned Israel’s recurrent aggressions. President Aoun expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s backing and emphasized the longstanding ties between the countries. He hoped for positive outcomes from his meeting with the Emir, especially regarding the return of Kuwaiti nationals to Lebanon, and affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to security collaboration with Kuwait.
The discussions also aimed at facilitating travel and enhancing bilateral cooperation. Sheikh Al-Sabah expressed interest in visiting Lebanon, a proposal warmly received by President Aoun.
Subsequently, President Aoun met with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to discuss revitalizing bilateral agreements and strengthening economic and investment ties. They also addressed preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad and the GCC-U.S. Summit in Saudi Arabia, as well as recent developments in Lebanon.
The Crown Prince later escorted President Aoun to the main hall of Bayan Palace for official talks with the Emir of Kuwait.
