Aoun Reaffirms Commitment to Lebanese Sovereignty Amid Israeli Occupation

Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, declared on Friday that the framework agreement does not legitimize Israel's occupation of Lebanon, aiming instead to empower the Lebanese Army to assert its authority across the entire nation.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun emphasized Lebanon's independent course, separate from the Iranian-American trajectory, which has posed challenges for those accustomed to external control. He affirmed Lebanon's democratic values and the importance of respecting freedom of expression, while cautioning against actions that incite conflict or attempt to dismantle the government outside of legal frameworks.

Aoun further highlighted that true strength lies not in the capacity for war, but in the courage to end conflict through negotiation, a process that avoids bloodshed. He assured that the Lebanese Army is committed to ensuring security and stability in the southern region following the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

Dr. Elias Warrak, President of the "Union of Lebanese Universities," praised Aoun's dedication to the nation, expressing confidence in his leadership both as President and former Army leader. Similarly, Father Hadi Mahfouz, Superior General of the Lebanese Maronite Order, voiced support for Aoun's efforts to guide Lebanon away from war and fragmentation, and towards a more prosperous future.
