Beirut: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stressed the importance of regional autonomy in managing the Middle East's security landscape, asserting that sustainable security cannot be imposed or dictated by external forces.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Araghchi made his remarks during a virtual address at the "Global Dialogue Forum," where he highlighted the need for a fundamental shift in global policies. He pointed out that war, intervention, sanctions, and the use of force have become routine policy tools, undermining the potential for lasting peace.

Araghchi criticized decades of foreign intervention and military pressure, noting that these strategies have failed to foster security in the region. Instead, they have perpetuated a cycle of conflict and confrontation. He argued that military interventions do not engender peace, but rather contribute to continuous instability.

During his speech, Araghchi advocated for regional dialogue and cooperation as essential components for achieving sustainable security. He emphasized that Middle Eastern countries should engage directly with each other to address their security, stability, and developmental challenges without external interference.

Araghchi described Iran's position as a reflection of historical experience, underscoring that the Iranian people have paid a considerable price for these lessons. He concluded by asserting that security in the region should be based on dialogue, confidence-building, and mutual respect, rather than the presence and influence of foreign military powers.
