Baghdad: Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on Monday warned that any deviation from the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States regarding the Strait of Hormuz would increase tensions in the Middle East. Speaking at a joint press conference in Baghdad with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Araghchi said any attempt to adopt arrangements outside those implemented by Iran would only complicate the situation, delay the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and heighten regional tensions. He called on all parties to adhere to the memorandum and prevent any departure from its agreed framework.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Araghchi emphasized the importance of maintaining the existing agreement to ensure stability in the region. He urged all involved parties to avoid actions that could lead to further complications and advised sticking to the terms of the memorandum to prevent escalation. The Iranian Foreign Minister's comments highlight concerns over potential disruptions in a key maritime channel crucial for global oil transport.
