Caracas: Rescue teams in Venezuela on Monday continued searching for survivors trapped under the rubble following two powerful earthquakes that struck the country days ago, with the death toll approaching 1,500.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, foreign rescue teams have arrived in the heavily affected state of La Guaira, where the two earthquakes struck 39 seconds apart, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude. The coastal state, about 40 kilometers north of Caracas, witnessed the collapse of dozens of buildings, leaving extensive destruction and piles of rubble.
