Berri Congratulates Aoun on Washington Visit, Discusses Reforms and Political Developments

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri called President Joseph Aoun to congratulate him on his safe return from Washington. Berri also conducted a meeting with Parliament's Finance and Budget Committee chairman, Ibrahim Kanaan, at the second presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. The discussions covered political developments, legislative affairs, and the committee's ongoing work.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Kanaan highlighted that the talks focused on the hardships faced by Lebanese citizens, especially in the southern regions, and expressed hopes for an end to the ongoing war. He noted that President Aoun's visit to Washington was aimed at securing an Israeli withdrawal, consolidating Lebanese sovereignty, and enhancing support for the Lebanese army.

The meeting also examined the progress of banking reform legislation and other draft laws. Kanaan emphasized that the reforms should protect the rights of citizens and depositors, asserting that Lebanon's recovery hinges on restoring public confidence in the state, economy, and banking sector.

In a separate meeting, Berri received Justice Minister Adel Nassar to discuss political, judicial, and legislative matters. Judges Souheir Harakeh and Nada Dakroub were also present for the discussions.
