Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. Their discussion reportedly involved the current general situation and the latest political and field developments.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri also reviewed recent developments and national and developmental affairs during his meeting with the Mufti of Baalbek-Hermel, Sheikh Bakr Rifai. After the meeting, Mufti Rifai stated that discussions with the Speaker always provide opportunities to explore the Lebanese situation and regional developments. The conversation also covered repeated Israeli attacks targeting Southern Lebanon, which pose a threat to civil peace despite Lebanon's adherence to Resolution 1701.
Mufti Rifai also mentioned that they discussed the issue of general amnesty, seeking the Speaker's assistance on the matter. The Speaker expressed understanding regarding this issue. Later in the afternoon, Berri received MP Hadi Abou El-Hessen, Secretary of the "Democratic Gathering" bloc. They discussed the general situation, the latest political developments, and legislative affairs.
