Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri engaged in a series of significant meetings at the second presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh. Among the notable visitors was French Presidential Envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, who was accompanied by a delegation that included the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Herv© Magro, and Speaker Berri’s Advisor, Dr. Mahmoud Berri.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the discussions with the French delegation focused on Lebanon’s current situation, regional developments, and the bilateral relations between Lebanon and France. The meeting underscored the importance of cooperation between the two nations amidst ongoing challenges.

Additionally, Speaker Berri welcomed Yasma Fuleihan, widow of the late Minister Bassel Fuleihan, who visited to express appreciation for the medal awarded to her late husband on the twentieth anniversary of his martyrdom. Lamia Moubayed, president of the Basel Fuleihan Financial Institute, also took the opportunity to present the institute’s programs and activities during the visit.

Berri’s engagements also included a meeting with MP Faisal Karami, where they discussed political developments, legislative issues, and developmental matters. These discussions highlight Berri’s ongoing commitment to addressing key national issues and fostering dialogue among political figures.

In a related development, Speaker Berri has called for a joint parliamentary committee session scheduled for 2:30 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025. The session will involve committees on Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, National Defense, Interior and Municipalities, Public Works and Transport, Energy and Water, National Economy and Trade, and Industry and Planning. The agenda for the session includes a review of various items that require attention from the assembled parliamentary committees.
