Braslia: The Brazilian government has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, highlighting its ongoing commitment to Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity. This development, announced on April 16, has prompted Brazil to call upon Israel to end its occupation in southern Lebanon and withdraw its forces from the region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Brazilian government is urging all parties involved to adhere to the terms of the truce. This includes ensuring a permanent cessation of hostilities and facilitating the return of internally displaced persons to their homes. The government emphasizes the importance of complying fully with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006), which established the ceasefire that concluded the war in 2006.
Additionally, the Brazilian government expresses hope that ongoing dialogue between the governments of Lebanon and Israel, with mediation by the United States, will result in a comprehensive political solution that ensures peace and security in the region.
