Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace on Saturday to discuss recent security and diplomatic developments. The meeting focused on Lebanon's preparedness for upcoming negotiations and the implementation of Cabinet decisions to enhance state authority in Beirut.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the leaders reviewed the post-ceasefire phase and ongoing efforts to consolidate the truce. President Aoun has been in contact with U.S. President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and several Arab and foreign leaders as part of these efforts.
Prime Minister Salam highlighted Lebanon's readiness for negotiations and emphasized the government's commitment to implementing a measure aimed at restricting weapons possession to the state within Beirut. He expressed optimism that displaced residents would soon return to their homes safely, with the state supporting their return by repairing infrastructure and providing essential services in safe and accessible areas.
