Baabda: The Council of Ministers held its regular session at Baabda Palace, under the chairmanship of President Joseph Aoun. The meeting, which started at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, was attended by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and other cabinet ministers. Before the session, President Aoun and Prime Minister Salam engaged in a bilateral meeting to discuss the current general situation in the country and the latest developments.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Cabinet is reviewing a comprehensive 30-item agenda that addresses security, financial, administrative, and legislative issues. One of the key items discussed is the Army Command's monthly report on its implementation plan to control arms across Lebanese territories, in line with Cabinet Resolution No. 1 from August 5, 2025. This is part of the ongoing government efforts to enhance state authority and assert sovereignty through legitimate institutions.
The session also includes a presentation by the Minister of Finance on proposals to adjust public sector salaries and wages, considering the ongoing economic and financial challenges. There is a request for the approval of a draft decree aimed at providing a monthly financial grant to active-duty military personnel and military retirees who receive a pension. This initiative is intended to improve living conditions and promote social stability within military institutions.
Additionally, the Minister of Education and Higher Education will present the progress of implementing Cabinet Resolution No. 11 from February 6, 2026. The agenda further encompasses various agreements, draft laws, and draft decrees. It also includes appointments, employment matters, regular administrative items, and urgent issues that require immediate decisions.
