Beirut:Recent operations by the Anti-Smuggling Division have led to the seizure of substantial quantities of smuggled medicines and aesthetic medical products, such as Botox and fillers. These items were discovered in residential apartments and premises utilized by commercial companies.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, General Customs Director Gracia Al-Qazzi emphasized that combating the smuggling of products impacting public health, including medicines, dietary supplements, injections, medical and cosmetic products, and foodstuffs, is a top priority. These efforts are part of broader initiatives to protect the legitimate economy, compliant traders, and state revenues.
Al-Qazzi noted that recent surveillance, tracking, and raids have revealed that some smugglers are using unconventional locations, such as residential apartments, to hide illicit goods and evade detection.
She urged citizens to report any suspicious storage or distribution activities, highlighting that a single tip could potentially uncover an entire warehouse or smuggling network. Furthermore, Al-Qazzi advised consumers to verify the source and official registration or authorization of medicines, injections, supplements, and cosmetic products to avoid health risks associated with improper transport or storage.
Customs will continue to trace the origin, entry routes, storage, and distribution networks of seized goods to identify all those involved in these illegal activities.
