Beirut: Customs General Directorate announced Sunday that the Tripoli Smuggling Investigation Division, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and safeguard public safety and citizens' health, managed to seize smuggled quantities of nutritional supplements, food products, and tobacco.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, following surveillance and monitoring, a patrol from the Tripoli Land Enforcement Division raided several shops in Tripoli and Zgharta that specialize in the sale of protein products and nutritional supplements. Various types and quantities of unlicensed protein products and supplements were confiscated and sent to the Division for necessary legal proceedings in accordance with established regulations.

In a separate operation, the Anti-Smuggling Division in Tripoli intercepted a pickup truck loaded with smuggled foodstuffs. The vehicle and its cargo were seized, amid suspicions that the expiration dates on some of the confiscated items had been tampered with. The Division also seized a quantity of smuggled tobacco in Tripoli.

Consequently, the violators were detained and investigations were conducted under the supervision of the concerned judicial authorities.
