Derian Advocates for Increased State Support and Unity in Tripoli

Tripoli:Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian visited Tripoli's Dar al-Fatwa, where he was welcomed by Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Tarek Imam, along with religious officials, judges, and members of the Higher Islamic Council and Tripoli Awqaf.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Derian chaired a meeting attended by Abdul Razzaq Qarhani, representing former Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and MPs Ashraf Rifi, Faisal Karami, Taha Naji, Ihab Matar, and Abdel Aziz Al-Samad.

During his visit, Imam praised Derian's national and religious contributions and highlighted the necessity of unity around Dar al-Fatwa. Derian referred to Tripoli as Lebanon's "second capital," emphasizing its role as a model of coexistence and national unity. He commended the city's residents for their resilience amid economic and social challenges and urged for enhanced efforts by the government and local authorities to address these issues.

Derian expressed his disapproval of Tripoli's current state, describing it as unacceptable for the city to be treated as a dumping ground for waste. He called on the authorities to take more effective measures to alleviate the hardships faced by residents. Moreover, he encouraged Tripoli's political and social leaders to unite in their vision and actions for the city's future, stressing the state's responsibility to support Tripoli, given its historical role in supporting state institutions.

In his closing remarks, Derian reaffirmed his trust in Mufti Imam and stated that Dar al-Fatwa institutions across Lebanon share a common mission to protect the dignity and interests of Muslims and all Lebanese citizens.
