Beirut: Education and Higher Education Minister Rima Karami met with representatives of Huawei Lebanon to discuss expanding cooperation aimed at advancing digital transformation and integrating artificial intelligence into Lebanon's education sector. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions covered a range of Huawei initiatives already underway in Lebanon, including the Huawei ICT Academy, the Huawei ICT Competition, and a broader initiative to introduce artificial intelligence into the Lebanese education system. The Huawei delegation included Deputy General Manager and Public Affairs Director Mohammad Sharara, Sales Director Jasper Guo, Deputy Head of Solutions Jackson Min, Government Sales Manager Elie Nassif, and Enterprise Solutions Manager Wesley Wang. Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Lebanon's education system and expressed its readiness to work with the ministry in implementing the country's new curriculum, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence int o teaching, with the aim of equipping Lebanese students with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. The company also highlighted the strong performance of Lebanese students in the Huawei ICT Competition, noting that Lebanese teams have consistently reached regional and global finals. Most recently, a Lebanese team secured second place worldwide in the Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence track. Jasper Guo said Huawei looked forward to working closely with the Ministry of Education to support educational projects in Lebanon by leveraging the company's global expertise in education technologies, including the introduction of artificial intelligence into classrooms. The meeting reaffirmed Huawei's ongoing commitment to higher education institutions in Lebanon through programmes such as the Huawei ICT Academy and other initiatives designed to benefit students and educational institutions. Huawei has also signed a number of memoranda of understanding with leading Lebanese universities, enab ling the integration of Huawei curricula into academic programmes. The company said it aims to expand its partnerships with additional universities in the near future. As part of its talent development efforts, Huawei continues to offer free training programmes for Lebanese students across a range of information and communications technology disciplines, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data and networking, with the goal of narrowing the digital skills gap and preparing the next generation of technology professionals.
