Finance Minister Engages in Talks with UN’s Plasschaert and EU Delegation on South Lebanon Situation

Beirut: Finance Minister, Yassine Jaber, on Wednesday held a meeting with United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at his office in the ministry. The discussion reportedly focused on the latest developments in South Lebanon and the role played by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as well as the activities of the military committee known as the “Mechanism.”

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Minister Jaber emphasized Lebanon’s stance on the necessity for Israel to adhere to the ceasefire agreement, cease its aggression, and withdraw from occupied posts. He expressed gratitude to the UN coordinator for the efforts made by UNIFIL in executing its tasks.

In a separate meeting, Minister Jaber engaged with a European Union delegation, which included Ana Pires, Head of Unit MENA / EU, along with Alessandra Viewzzer Cyril Dewaley, Director of the Cooperation Department, and her deputy. The discussions revolved around EU-implemented projects in various social sectors.

Minister Jaber provided the EU delegation with an update on the reform measures that have been undertaken thus far. Earlier, Major General Edgard Lawandos, Director General of State Security, accompanied by a delegation from the Directorate, was received by Minister Jaber. Their dialogue centered on cooperative efforts between the State Security and the Ministry of Finance concerning customs and real estate matters.
