Beirut: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants condemned in the strongest terms the attack carried out by Iran on Saturday against an Emirati oil tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Ministry affirmed that this attack "constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules of international law, particularly the provisions of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which uphold freedom of maritime navigation and reject Iranian threats to disrupt or close navigation in the Strait of Hormuz." The Ministry reiterated its "rejection of Iran's attempts to use the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for bargaining and blackmail," calling for "its full and unconditional reopening." It also affirmed "full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and support for the measures taken to safeguard the safety of its shipping and assets."
