France, Mexico Advance to World Cup Round of 16

Beirut: France cruised into the Round of 16 with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sweden in New Jersey. Kylian Mbapp© scored twice to raise his tournament tally to six goals, level with Lionel Messi, while Bradley Barcola added the third. France became the first team in World Cup history to score three or more goals in five consecutive matches and will face Paraguay in the Round of 16.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mexico, one of the tournament's three host nations, also advanced after defeating Ecuador 2-0 at the Azteca Stadium. Juli¡n Qui±ones and Raºl Jim©nez scored the goals as Mexico secured its fourth straight victory. The hosts will next face either DR Congo or England for a place in the quarterfinals. Kickoff was delayed by one hour due to a thunderstorm in Mexico City.
