Gemayel Urges Government to Assert State Sovereignty After Karam Appointment

Beirut: Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday praised Lebanon’s decision to appoint former ambassador Simon Karam to lead its delegation to the Military Technical Committee, urging the government to take concrete steps to reinforce State authority.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Gemayel expressed his full support for the decision of the President of the Republic to utilize former Ambassador Simon Karam’s expertise to head the delegation to the Mechanism Committee. Gemayel emphasized that this move should be complemented by broader measures to assert State control, ensure that all arms are under government authority, and safeguard the country from any aggression.

Gemayel further stated, “We hope this step will be followed by concrete actions to accelerate the enforcement of State sovereignty, assert the monopoly of arms, and protect Lebanon from any threats.”
