Beirut: MP Hussein Hajj Hassan commented today on the framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel in Washington, stating, "This is not an agreement, but rather a surrender by the Lebanese authorities to America and the Zionist enemy."

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in an interview with Sputnik Radio, Hajj Hassan added, "It is a complete surrender and total capitulation. The conditions stipulated in the agreement bind Lebanon, while there are no obligations included regarding the Israeli side."

He affirmed that their stance remains firm in not abiding by anything that the state authority stipulates, considering that it has surrendered to the United States and Israel. "The Lebanese authorities are today responsible for the situation they have brought upon themselves, and we hope that Lebanon will not be driven into further crises as a result of this government's capitulation. The authorities have adopted a defeatist and submissive approach, without regard for the national interest. Consequently, we believe we are facing a government that has lost its legitimacy and national mandate," Hajj Hassan maintained.

He further considered that, through the agreement it signed, the Lebanese state is declaring its intention to rely on foreign powers, and is handing over the country's land and resources to the enemy. Hajj Hassan described this as "a very dangerous step," noting that the government has rendered itself dependent on Israeli approval and placed itself in an "extremely serious and severe predicament."

"We do not recognize the agreement, and the resistance and weapons will remain. This agreement will not be implemented. As for our future steps, they are subject to the deliberations and consultations we are conducting within the party and with our allies," Hajj Hassan concluded.
