Higher Defense Council Concludes Meeting at Baabda Palace: State Alone Holds Authority Over War & Peace


Lebanon: The National News Agency reported that the Higher Defense Council’s meeting at Baabda Palace has concluded. Chaired by President Joseph Aoun, the meeting focused on the latest regional developments following the serious escalations in the region.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun extended his condolences to the countries affected by the recent events and expressed solidarity with Arab states, strongly condemning attacks targeting their civilians and infrastructure. He reaffirmed national consensus that the decision of war and peace rests solely with the Lebanese state through its constitutional institutions, as outlined in the presidential oath speech and the current government’s ministerial statement.



The Prime Minister stressed the importance of prioritizing Lebanon’s national interest, maintaining security control in the south and east, and preventing any instability. He also emphasized monitoring prices and supply levels of essential goods and fuel, confirming that precautionary measures have already been taken.



Following discussions with concerned ministers and military and security chiefs, the Higher Defense Council urged all Lebanese to uphold national responsibility during these sensitive times to preserve overall stability and comprehensive security. The Council also adopted necessary recommendations regarding security and military developments, keeping its sessions open for continued monitoring.
