Beirut: Attending the launch were the Director General of General Security, Major General Hassan Choucair, Lebanese Ambassador to Kuwait Ghadi Khoury, and Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdallah, as well as Acting Director General of Civil Status Roudayna Mer'eb and Deputy Head of Mission and Consul Mia Al-Adham, alongside embassy staff.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Al-Hajjar described the initiative as a significant step in modernizing Lebanon's public administration and improving services for Lebanese expatriates, saying this responds to a long-standing demand from the diaspora.

He explained that the Interior Ministry, in coordination with the General Security Directorate and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance, prepared the project to allow Lebanese citizens abroad to complete biometric fingerprint enrollment at their place of residence. The data will then be transmitted electronically to Lebanon for the issuance of biometric passports, eliminating the need for applicants to travel to Lebanon.

Minister Hajjar noted that, following an official invitation from his Kuwaiti counterpart and the completion of technical preparations by a Lebanese General Security team, he chose Kuwait as the first country to launch the service in recognition of its active Lebanese expatriate community and the strong bilateral ties between both countries.

He added that, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, the service will gradually be rolled out across Lebanese embassies and consulates in the Gulf and around the world.
