Beirut: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz stems from US violations and disruption of Iran's commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum. Speaking during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization ministerial meeting, Araghchi said Tehran remains determined to defend its national security and interests. The Iranian foreign minister also discussed regional developments with his Chinese counterpart, including US breaches of the agreement and attacks on Iran's infrastructure. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Wang Yi said restoring peace and stability in West Asia requires strengthening trust and cooperation among regional countries. China expressed readiness to provide any assistance aimed at supporting regional peace and stability. Araghchi also held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who stressed the importance of regional security mechanisms based on cooperation among countri es in the region.
