Beirut: Justice Minister Adel Nassar met with Jean Arnault, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL), during a protocol visit marking Arnault's new role in Lebanon. This meeting underscored the ongoing collaborations aimed at enhancing Lebanon's justice sector and reinforcing the rule of law.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Arnault, who assumed his duties nearly a month ago, expressed his commitment to supporting Lebanon's recovery and stability, with a particular focus on the justice sector. He commended Minister Nassar on the recent adoption of a law abolishing the death penalty, highlighting it as an achievement that many nations aspire to realize. Arnault also emphasized the UN's supportive role during Lebanon's current "delicate and sensitive" phase.

In a separate engagement, Minister Nassar met with UNDP Resident Representative Blerta Aliko for a farewell visit as she concludes her mission in Lebanon. Aliko reiterated the UNDP's dedication to bolstering the justice sector and upholding the rule of law. She praised the ongoing legal reforms and efforts to promote judicial independence as vital steps forward for Lebanon.
