Kataeb Emphasizes Sole Authority of Lebanese State in National Affairs

Beirut: The Kataeb Political Bureau, under the leadership of Party President Samy Gemayel, convened for its weekly meeting, emphasizing that only Lebanon's constitutional institutions hold the sovereign right to make decisions and speak on the country's behalf. The bureau issued a statement condemning foreign interventions, specifically addressing Iranian influence on Lebanon's political trajectory.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Kataeb Political Bureau criticized recent comments by Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, accusing Tehran of attempting to leverage Lebanon in its regional negotiations. The bureau also directed a warning at Hezbollah, urging it to avoid involving Lebanon, particularly the southern regions and the Shiite community, in conflicts that have historically led to devastation and displacement. The bureau called on the Lebanese Army to enhance security measures to avert any military activities that might trigger renewed conflicts in the south.

The bureau highlighted the shift from armed struggle to diplomacy as a means to achieve Israeli withdrawal and restore Lebanese sovereignty. It asserted that Lebanon's priority should be the swift implementation of the framework agreement, which includes expanding pilot zones and ensuring the Lebanese Army's deployment to assume full security responsibilities as per government decisions from March and August. These actions aim to consolidate State authority, control all weapons, and eliminate Hezbollah's military activities, deemed illegal, to end Lebanon's cycle of wars.

In addition, the Kataeb Political Bureau expressed support for the Lebanese State's diplomatic initiatives to reintegrate Lebanon into regional and international economic projects. It urged the government and ministers to act responsibly and promptly in adopting decisions and measures necessary to transform these opportunities into tangible investments and development projects. These efforts are seen as crucial to revitalizing the national economy, creating employment, and rebuilding trust among Lebanese citizens and international partners in the State's capability to recover.
