Beirut: Environment Minister Nazem Khoury participated Friday in a ceremony held at the Middle East Institute in Italy to celebrate World Food Day. Khoury spoke on this occasion, shedding light on the Italian-Lebanese cooperation in the field of environment and agriculture and in setting up new policies to promote those two sectors.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Khoury listed the many achievements made owing to said cooperation, saying Lebanon is now close to following the pattern adopted in Europe in terms of food products. He emphasized the hard work undertaken with Italian partners to reach this point.
Khoury also outlined plans to enhance Lebanon's environmental sector through improved inspection systems, leveraging administrative and technical expertise, and implementing taxes in accordance with the law. He thanked Italy for its support at the environmental level and expressed optimism about future contributions that could further improve Lebanon's environmental performance.
