Lebanese Army Commander Visits Cyprus to Discuss Military Cooperation

Jakarta:Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal visited Cyprus on October 7 and 8, responding to an invitation from his Cypriot counterpart, National Guard Chief Lieutenant General Emmanouel Theodorou.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Haykal was officially received at the Cypriot Defense Ministry, where he held discussions with Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas and Lieutenant General Theodorou. The discussions centered on developments in Lebanon and the region, mutual interests, and strengthening military cooperation in the face of regional challenges.

During his visit, Haykal paid tribute by laying a wreath at a memorial for fallen soldiers. He also toured several military facilities, including the CYCLOPS Training Center, where he met with Lebanese Army officers in training, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center. These visits included reviews of ongoing exercises and joint training activities between Lebanese and Cypriot forces.

A dinner hosted by Lebanese Ambassador to Cyprus Rina Charbel at the Lebanese Embassy in Haykal's honor was attended by Arab ambassadors and Cypriot and Arab diplomatic figures.
