Lebanon Fuel Station Owners Warn of Potential Strike Over Rising Costs

Beirut: Fuel station owners in Lebanon, represented by syndicate head Georges Brax, have issued a warning about the financial strain they are experiencing due to the current fuel sale and social security policies. Brax highlighted that station operators are suffering financially as a result of fixed fuel sale commissions determined by the Energy Ministry and high social security fees levied on foreign workers.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Brax explained that the Energy Ministry's policy of setting fixed commissions on fuel sales is a significant factor in the financial difficulties faced by station owners. Additionally, the requirement to pay substantial contributions to the National Social Security Fund for foreign employees, who are not eligible for its services, further exacerbates the issue.

Brax emphasized that the continued implementation of these policies is severely affecting profit margins, leading to considerable losses for station owners. He expressed concern that if these issues are not addressed, the sector might be compelled to take action to safeguard their financial interests.
