Beirut: Minister of State for Administrative Development Fadi Makki on Wednesday met Higher Islamic Shiite Council Vice President Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib to discuss ongoing efforts aimed at fostering national dialogue and strengthening internal cohesion.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Makki said his visit formed part of a broader tour of Lebanon's leading religious authorities to address what he described as the country's "existential challenges." He stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue, coexistence, and national unity in confronting the threats facing Lebanon.

Makki also briefed Al-Khatib on recent visits to southern Lebanon with a number of foreign ambassadors, saying the initiative sought to convey the suffering of the region's residents to the international community and encourage greater international support.

He praised Al-Khatib's unifying discourse and said his guidance remained particularly important during the current period.

Separately, Al-Khatib received a delegation from the Khaldeh Reconciliation Committee, including Hezbollah and Amal Movement representatives, who presented the final draft of a comprehensive reconciliation agreement between the Shibli and Ghosn families. Al-Khatib welcomed the initiative and affirmed the Higher Islamic Shiite Council's support for the reconciliation process.
