Beirut: Information Minister, Paul Morcos, on Wednesday said President Joseph Aoun's tenure had restored the Lebanese state's presence, urging all political forces to rally behind state institutions to restore sovereignty and stability. Speaking to Voice of the Mountain radio, Morcos emphasized the progress made under Aoun's leadership and the crucial role of unified political support in achieving national goals.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Morcos stated that the Beirut port blast investigation had entered a decisive phase, expressing hope that an indictment would be issued within months after judicial obstacles were removed. He stressed the state's commitment to uncovering the truth and delivering justice while respecting judicial independence.

On media reform, Morcos revealed that the new media law was in its final stages before parliamentary approval. He mentioned that the legislation would modernize the regulation of traditional and digital media, establish an independent national media authority, combat hate speech and disinformation, safeguard press freedom, and introduce a notification-based registration system for online media.

Morcos also highlighted reforms within state media, including the appointment of T©l© Liban's first board of directors in 26 years, the relaunch of the National News Agency, the digitization of T©l© Liban's archives, and the restructuring of Radio Lebanon. These steps are part of a broader effort to enhance the effectiveness and reach of state media.

He added that the ministry was working with international partners to combat hate speech and promote dialogue, while reaffirming that the state remained the sole legitimate national authority and the cornerstone of Lebanon's reform and recovery. The collaboration with global entities aims to foster a more inclusive and harmonious media environment.
