Bsalim: The Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rai, inaugurated the "Youth of Hope" association and the Monsignor Toufic Bou Hadir medical dispensary at the Unity Charitable Association center during his pastoral visit to the Bsalim area.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the event drew a significant crowd, including Minister of Information Paul Morcos, Bsalim Mayor Georges Samaan, political representatives, military, religious, judicial, social and media figures, youth offices, association leaders, and sports club representatives, as well as the head of the "Youth of Hope" association, journalist Majd Bou Hadir.
The ceremony commenced with welcoming remarks by presenter Tatiana Rouhana Bou Hadir, followed by Mayor Samaan, who underscored the importance of public sector and social initiative partnerships. Mayor Samaan addressed Patriarch al-Rai, reflecting on Lebanon's perseverance through spiritual strength and dedicated projects as symbols of hope and solidarity.
Journalist Majd Bou Hadir provided an overview of the association's history, which began in 1968 as the "Unity Charitable Association." He discussed its growth and commitment to youth support, environmental projects, humanitarian aid, and fostering community solidarity over the past four years.
Minister Morcos praised the initiative as embodying values and virtues, emphasizing youth as "the carriers of hope." He highlighted the dispensary's role in healing and service while discussing the Ministry of Information's efforts to combat hate speech and misinformation in collaboration with UNESCO and UNDP.
Morcos also remarked on the necessity of protecting Lebanon from both military conflicts and "wars of words," advocating for responsible communication and respect for human dignity.
In his concluding speech, Patriarch al-Rai honored the legacy of Monsignor Toufic Bou Hadir, commending his family for continuing his mission. He stated that the project is a small part of a broader humanitarian legacy that continues through its supporters.
