Beirut: Minister of Information Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos announced significant developments concerning the Media Law during a specialized training workshop attended by journalists. The workshop, which focused on international humanitarian law and the protection of journalists, was organized in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross. Minister Morcos extended his gratitude to the committee, emphasizing the importance of such preventive training.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Morcos addressed the employees of various media outlets, including the National News Agency, Radio Lebanon, and T©l© Liban, about the Media Law bill recently approved by the joint parliamentary committees. He assured them that provisions potentially affecting their rights have been set aside. The minister reiterated the government's commitment to adopting a retirement charter, highlighting that the proposal has reached the General Assembly of Parliament for the first time under the current presidential term.

Minister Morcos further explained that the joint parliamentary committees have removed all provisions related to public media to ensure a thorough review. This step aims to safeguard employees' rights, address concerns, and contribute to public media sector development. He expressed optimism that the Parliament's General Assembly will approve measures that do justice to the employees next week. Minister Morcos noted the historical significance of the proposal reaching the General Assembly, recalling previous instances where approval was hindered due to a lack of quorum.
