Ministry of Culture Urges Registration of Movable Antiquities Owned by Individuals

Beirut: The Ministry of Culture has issued a reminder to citizens regarding Decree No. 198/2025, which extends the provisions of Decree No. 3065/2016. This decree regulates the general inventory of movable antiquities owned by individuals.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the Ministry of Culture, through its Directorate General of Antiquities, is urging citizens to register any archaeological objects they possess. This initiative is crucial for safeguarding the public interest and protecting cultural property. The registration must be completed within a three-year period that began on April 22, 2025, when the decree was published in the Official Gazette.

The Ministry further warns that failure to declare these objects within the specified timeframe may lead to legal proceedings against the owners. For further inquiries, citizens are encouraged to contact the Directorate General of Antiquities.
