MoPWT Activates Preventive Emergency Measures Amid Severe Weather Warning

Beirut: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced the adoption of preventive emergency measures, based on reports from the Meteorological Service indicating that Lebanon is being affected by a highly active weather depression accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds, which may lead to water accumulation in several areas.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry stated that the measures fall within a framework of proactive precautions, noting that readiness levels may be raised to maximum stages if necessary, depending on weather developments and field assessments. It added that its emergency teams are fully deployed across Lebanese territory, particularly at locations that typically witness water pooling.

The ministry indicated that emergency crews are continuing periodic inspections of roads, culverts, channels, and rainwater drainage networks, and are carrying out necessary interventions to address blockages or emergencies, in order to ensure public safety and maintain traffic flow. It stressed full readiness to respond immediately to reports in line with approved procedures and emergency plans.

The ministry's statement concluded by urging citizens to exercise caution while driving and to adhere to public safety guidelines, especially in areas prone to water accumulation.
