MP Hassan Fadlallah Rejects Direct Talks with Israel, Calls for Indirect Negotiations

Beirut: Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah on Tuesday expressed strong opposition to direct negotiations with Israel, emphasizing the need for a return to indirect talks to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire. He criticized Lebanese authorities for allegedly retreating from their earlier commitment not to engage in negotiations until hostilities ceased.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Fadlallah made these remarks during a press conference in Parliament, where he condemned the notion of what he termed "humiliating negotiations" with Israel. He urged for a strategy of indirect negotiations that would be supported by Lebanon's collective strength and unity.

Fadlallah cautioned against making any security or political agreements that could compromise Lebanese sovereignty and firmly rejected any form of normalization with Israel. He highlighted the importance of national unity in pursuing a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the release of prisoners, reconstruction efforts, and the establishment of full state authority south of the Litani River.
