Beirut: MP Ali Hassan Khalil submitted a formal question to the government through parliament, asking whether it is respecting the legal and regulatory powers of the Civil Aviation Authority.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Khalil's inquiry comes in the wake of recent cabinet decisions that include establishing the Beirut International Airport Corporation and appointing its board. Additionally, the government has granted a license to a company to operate scheduled passenger flights from Rene Mouawad Airport in Qlayaat.

Khalil referenced the 2002 Civil Aviation Law and a 2004 implementing decree in his questioning. He expressed concern over the lack of consultation with the Civil Aviation Authority, suggesting that the authority's role may have been reduced to merely serving as a technical adviser.
