Beirut: MPs raised concerns over the framework agreement, state sovereignty, security and the government's handling of the repercussions of Israeli attacks during Parliament's general debate session.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab called on Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to clarify the framework agreement and its expected outcomes, while MP Hadi Aboul Hosn voiced opposition to the agreement in its current form and called for a unified national position and a clear negotiating strategy that safeguards Lebanon's rights.

MP Firas Hamdan appealed for the protection of Nabatieh amid residents' fears of destruction, displacement and occupation, stressing that decisions concerning the country must rest with the state.

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil backed negotiations with Israel to end the war and reiterated support for exclusive state control over weapons, while criticizing the government's performance and calling for a change in course.

MP Inaya Ezzeddine criticized what she described as an inadequate government response to displacement, calling for exceptional measures to ensure students' safe return to school and address the social and demographic consequences of the attacks.

MP Jamil Sayyed, meanwhile, argued that the framework agreement should have been referred to Parliament, questioning its constitutionality and the procedures followed in concluding it.
