Beirut: MPs raised issues ranging from state sovereignty and financial reform to electricity and negotiations during Parliament's general debate session.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, MP Ibrahim Kanaan backed the state-led negotiating process and exclusive state authority over war and peace, calling for concrete international funding and equipment for the Lebanese Army. On financial reforms, he rejected placing responsibility for delays on Parliament and demanded transparency over the financial gap, accountability for losses and a binding mechanism to return deposits.

MP George Adwan voiced support for the government's efforts to establish exclusive state control over weapons, urging Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to continue along that path.

MP Michel Daher warned of a looming social crisis, calling for fundamental electricity-sector reform and private-sector management, while highlighting Lebanon's trade imbalance and tax evasion.

MP Ali Hassan Khalil questioned what the framework agreement had achieved in practice, citing continued destruction and displacement in the South, while urging dialogue and partnership despite political differences.

MP Fouad Makhzoumi renewed his confidence in the government, calling for clear mechanisms to place weapons and national decision-making exclusively under state authority.
