Mufti Derian Engages in Diplomatic and Community Dialogues at Dar al-Fatwa


Beirut: Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, held a series of significant meetings at Dar al-Fatwa, including a protocol visit from the newly appointed Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Wilson. The discussions with Ambassador Wilson centered on enhancing the bilateral ties between Lebanon and Australia, marking the ambassador’s new diplomatic duties in the country.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Mufti Derian also met with a delegation from the Union of Municipalities of Hasbaya and Marjeyoun, in the presence of Mufti of Hasbaya and Marjeyoun, Sheikh Hassan Dali. The delegation highlighted the challenging situations in the Hasbaya and Arqoub regions, especially in the steadfast villages of Arqoub, urging the urgent implementation of a rescue plan. They emphasized the importance of strengthening the state’s presence through its various agencies and called for immediate developmental and services initiatives.



The delegation reiterated the residents’ commitment to the state, its legitimate institutions, and the Lebanese Army as the sole guarantor of security and stability. They noted that the resilience of the people on their land is crucial for maintaining national sovereignty.



Additionally, Mufti Derian engaged with the Islamic-Christian Dialogue Committee, including figures such as former Minister Abbas Halabi, Dr. Muhammad al-Sammak, and Prince Haris Shehab. The discussions focused on organizing an Islamic-Christian spiritual summit in the near future.



Mufti Derian also conversed with a delegation from the National Islamic Forum, led by Jamil Qaterji. Their discussions revolved around the general situation, particularly the daily living and social conditions, as well as the circumstances of Beirut residents.
