Mufti Derian Returns to Beirut After Partaking in International Islamic Conference in Cairo

Beirut: Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, on Thursday returned to Beirut from Cairo, after participating in the International Islamic Conference organized by the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, in Cairo, titled ‘The Making of the Competent Mufti in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.’

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, prior to his return, Mufti Derian, along with the delegations participating in the conference, met with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb. The Grand Imam promised to accept Mufti Derian’s invitation to visit Lebanon as soon as possible.

Mufti Derian acknowledged the role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif on the Islamic and Arab levels through its missions in Islamic, Arab, and Western countries. He emphasized the importance of coordination, cooperation, and communication between Dar Al-Fatwa in the Lebanese Republic and the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
