President Joseph Aoun Chairs Preparatory Meeting for Washington Negotiations

Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, chaired a meeting at Baabda Palace, attended by Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, former Ambassador Simon Karam, members of the military negotiating team, and the advisory team. The meeting aimed to prepare for the forthcoming Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations in Washington.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions focused on recent developments in Lebanon and the wider region. A significant topic was the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States of America and Iran. The meeting also concentrated on preparations for the negotiations scheduled for June 23, 24, and 25 in Washington.

President Aoun provided the delegation with directives based on Lebanon's consistent positions. These include a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories, the deployment of the Lebanese Army to international borders, the return of Lebanese detainees, and the initiation of the reconstruction process.
