Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday received a phone call from UK National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell, during which they discussed security and military developments in Lebanon as well as the course of negotiations.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Powell affirmed to President Aoun that "Britain stands by Lebanon and supports its political choices aimed at preserving security and stability in the country."
