Beirut: Protests erupted at the Parliament as the Cry of the Depositors Association and the Central Bank Retirees’ Association staged a demonstration and warning sit-in. Their demand centered on the amendment or return of a legislative proposal to the government, highlighting the ongoing economic and political tensions in the country.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the day was also marked by an event commemorating World Health Day 2025. Held at the M¶venpick Hotel, the theme focused on ‘Healthy Start for a Promising Future – Maternal and Newborn Health.’ The event was sponsored by Health Minister Dr. Rakan Nassereddine and organized by the WHO office in Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of maternal and newborn health.
At 10:30 am, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam launched the Airport Road Rehabilitation project. The launch took place at the MEA Training and Conference Center near Beirut Airport, signaling the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and transportation facilities.
In another significant event, the “Femme du Soleil” project was launched by the NGO “Sutooh Beirut.” The press conference was held under the patronage of Information Minister Paul Morcos at the Ministry of Information in Hamra, showcasing efforts to advance women’s initiatives.
The day’s events concluded with a Holy Week prayer service at 6:00 pm. Bishop Paul Abdel Sater presided over the Anointing of the Sick service at St. George Cathedral, Beirut, providing a moment of reflection and spiritual solace for attendees.
