PSP Calls for Swift Justice in Beirut Port Blast Investigation

Beirut: The Progressive Socialist Party's (PSP) Media Commission has urged the advancement of the Beirut Port blast investigation, emphasizing that the case should not remain subject to delays.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, in a statement issued to mark the commemoration of the blast, the PSP highlighted that six years after the devastating explosion, the truth remains elusive. The party, which has consistently advocated for an international investigation, continues to question the status of the judicial probe. They demand answers to critical questions, such as the current progress of the investigations and the duration Lebanese citizens will have to wait for the indictment decision to be announced.

The statement from the PSP underscores the notion that delayed justice is incomplete justice. The party reiterated that the case cannot remain mired in obstruction and procrastination. They asserted that the victims and their families have an unyielding right to know the truth and to hold those responsible accountable, regardless of the time elapsed since the tragedy. The PSP further emphasized that a fully established state requires a judiciary capable of delivering verdicts independently, without external pressure or interference.

In conclusion, the PSP renewed its call for the truth to be unveiled without further delay. They stressed the importance of issuing the indictment decision promptly and proceeding with trials to ensure justice for the victims and their families. The party expressed hope that achieving justice might alleviate some of the suffering that permeated Lebanese households following the explosion on August 4, 2020.
