Rahi Declares Lebanon Should Not Be a Bargaining Chip in International Deals

Dimane: Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, delivered a sermon at the Mass for the Seventh Sunday of the Season of Pentecost at the Patriarchal See Church in Dimane, addressing a large congregation from Dimane and nearby villages.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Patriarch emphasized the importance of maintaining Lebanon's sovereignty and independence in his homily. He urged that Lebanon must not be sacrificed in regional or international agreements, nor should it serve as a battleground for settling conflicts. Al-Rahi called for prayers for peace and stability, expressing gratitude for any initiatives that could halt violence and promote national stability.

He discussed the recent diplomatic efforts involving Lebanon, the United States, and Israel, expressing hope that these discussions would lead to lasting peace, safeguard national sovereignty, and protect the people from the threat of war. The Patriarch highlighted the global recognition of Lebanon's unique role in preserving a free and active Christian presence in the Middle East, underscoring that Lebanon's mission extends beyond Christian concerns to encompass coexistence and dialogue between different religions and cultures.

Al-Rahi affirmed that Lebanon's freedom and sovereignty are crucial for Christians and all citizens to continue their historical mission of serving humanity and advocating for human dignity and openness. He concluded by stressing that Lebanon must remain a beacon of freedom and coexistence, rather than becoming a pawn in geopolitical negotiations.
