Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday met with ministers, representatives of the economic bodies, led by former minister Mohammad Choucair, and the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers, headed by Beshara Al Asmar, to discuss the suspension of customs fees imposed on selected imported goods.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, following the meeting, MP Farid Boustany confirmed that implementation of the decree had been halted and said discussions would continue to identify alternative sources of revenue without placing additional financial burdens on citizens. Al Asmar welcomed the decision, announcing the formation of a joint committee comprising ministers, labor representatives and economic bodies to develop long-term solutions.
