Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Thursday welcomed President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, at the Grand Serail. Following the meeting, Al-Jarwan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to consult with Prime Minister Salam on ways to promote the values of tolerance and peace.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Al-Jarwan stated, “We are honored to meet today with Prime Minister Salam to discuss the Lebanese vision of spreading values of tolerance and peace. We have many ideas that we believe we can share with the Lebanese people, leadership, and the intellectual elites who support love, peace, and tolerance.” He emphasized Lebanon’s commitment to peace despite regional and internal challenges, highlighting the country’s dedication to coexistence and a positive global outlook.

Al-Jarwan reiterated the Council’s appreciation for its presence in Lebanon, focusing on partnership with the Lebanese people and elites for the common good. “Our message to the world from within Lebanon is clear: Lebanon aspires for peace and works for stability and a future that ensures a dignified life for future generations,” he noted. The Council, with partnerships in over 120 countries, views its engagement in Lebanon as enriching its global work.

In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Salam received Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Chen Chuandong, and the head of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Mohammad Ali Kabbani. Discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly through key Chinese projects beneficial to Lebanon’s economy. The Chinese diplomat reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and stability.

Later, Prime Minister Salam met with a delegation from the “Kulluna Irada” movement, led by Wafa Saab. The delegation expressed support for the government’s efforts to establish state authority across Lebanon, applauding efforts to disarm non-state actors and stressing the importance of continuing reforms and activating state institutions. They also raised the issue of expatriate voting in upcoming elections, urging the government to ensure voting rights for Lebanese nationals abroad.

Prime Minister Salam also engaged with a delegation from the “National Balance Meeting,” which reaffirmed support for his leadership and government decisions. The delegation expressed optimism for ongoing reforms and Lebanon’s economic recovery.
