Salameh Refuses Routine Medical Examinations Ordered by Prosecutor

Beirut: Public Prosecutor Ahmad Rami Al-Haj on Monday instructed Roumieh Prison authorities to transfer former Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh to Dahr El-Bacheq Government Hospital for routine medical examinations, not because of any deterioration in his health. Al-Haj ordered that Salameh undergo routine tests, including cardiac and respiratory examinations, noting that his blood pressure was stable and within normal levels.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salameh refused to undergo any medical procedures, including the heart and respiratory tests. Following his refusal, Al-Haj instructed the Brummana unit of the Internal Security Forces to go to Roumieh Prison and draw up an official report documenting Salameh's refusal to undergo medical examinations and take his medication, with the process to be recorded in both audio and video.
