Beirut:Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins KBE DSO, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff (Military Strategy and Operations) of the UK, recently concluded a visit to Lebanon, emphasizing the UK's dedication to the country's security and regional stability.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the visit included meetings with key Lebanese figures such as Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolph Haykal, and United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jean Arnault. Squadron Leader Craig Pearson, Deputy Defence Attach©, also accompanied him.
Discussions during the visit centered on the security situation in south Lebanon, with a particular focus on the Lebanese Armed Forces' crucial role in maintaining Lebanon's sovereignty and supporting state authority. The UK reiterated its support for the Lebanese Armed Forces as the nation's sole legitimate defender.
The visit highlighted the UK's ongoing partnership with Lebanon and its support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions, preventing escalation, and fostering a secure and sustainable future for the country. Lieutenant General Collins expressed the UK's commitment to supporting Lebanon amidst ongoing regional uncertainties.
