Beirut: US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, on Thursday commended Lebanon’s unity and progress toward ‘peaceful regional engagement’ in a statement addressing recent diplomatic developments.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Ambassador Issa expressed his appreciation for the Lebanese Government and its people for their warm reception of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV during his recent visit. He highlighted the professionalism and unity shown by Lebanon in organizing this historic event as a testament to the country’s resilience and ability to overcome challenges with purpose.

Ambassador Issa also praised Lebanon and Israel for their decision to open a dialogue channel at this critical time, viewing it as a significant step toward achieving peaceful solutions grounded in mutual respect and understanding. He emphasized that meaningful progress requires both sides to feel that their concerns are acknowledged and hopes valued, with compromise and principled leadership being crucial elements in this process.
